Battle Creek Woman Killed By Crossbow Over the Weekend
A woman in Battle Creek, Michigan, was killed over the weekend after being shot by a crossbow.
What is a Crossbow?
If you are unfamiliar with what a crossbow is, it is a ranged weapon that consists of a bow-like assembly that is called a prod. The prod is mounted horizontally on a main frame called a tiller. The crossbow is hand-held similar to a firearm and often has a scope attached for better accuracy. The crossbow shoots what looks like a small arrow but they are called bolts.
Most people have only seen crossbows in TV shows like Game of Thrones, movies like Gladiator, or while playing video games.
The first crossbows that are known to man were made in the first millennium BC in ancient China. This was a big invention for wartime use that revolutionized projectile weaponry.
Today, crossbows are used by hunters to hunt deer, turkey, bear, elk, and other animals. Many hunters went from using a traditional bow to a crossbow to increase their kill distance and accuracy by using a scope. Many say a crossbow of today shoots more like a gun than a crossbow of the past.
Battle Creek Woman Shot and Killed By a Crossbow
I'm surprised we don't hear about more killings by crossbows since they don't make a sound like a gun does and can go virtually undetected when shot in a populated area unless you are near the person shooting the crossbow.
It is unfortunate to report that a woman in Battle Creek, Michigan, has fallen victim to being shot by a crossbow. A call was made over the weekend that a 44-year-old woman by the name of Kori-Lee Moser had been shot with a crossbow.
According to WOOD, when police arrived they found Moser in bad condition and she was then taken to the hospital where she later died from her injury. There is a suspect in custody but so far no motive and the incident is being looked at as a homicide.
