Could Battle Creek Get a New Missile Defense System?
Battle Creek, Michigan, may soon live up to the “Battle” in its name with the possible installation of a new defense missile system.

You may not realize it, but Michigan plays a major role in defense, missile, and industries, with over 4,000 companies in aerospace, AI, and defense manufacturing employing more than 150,000 people.
Only a limited number of state-level organizations operate HIMARS. The Michigan National Guard is one of them, giving it long-range rocket capabilities.
A new facility in Grayling is being established to support munitions production and manufacture defense systems.
Located in the Grayling–Alpena region, the National All-Domain Warfighting Center (NADWC) serves as a key Michigan facility for testing advanced drone and counter-UAV technologies.

New Missile Defense System Could Impact Battle Creek
Battle Creek could soon be known for more than its title as the “Cereal Capital of the World” if a new ballistic missile defense site is installed at Fort Custer. And if that happens, who knows, maybe Kellogg’s and the U.S. military will team up on a new cereal called “Sugar Bombs.”
According to WOODTV, more than 40 Michigan lawmakers are calling on federal officials to choose Fort Custer Training Center in Battle Creek as the site for a new missile defense installation.
The Missile Defense Agency considers Fort Custer an ideal site for a Golden Dome installation. The location already features command and control centers, secure facilities, training areas, and a skilled workforce, making it well-suited for the project.
The proposed missile defense system at the Fort Custer Training Center could create 300 direct jobs and up to 1,800 indirect or spin-off jobs in the region.
