It has been a long time since the West Michigan Whitecaps have played a game at home but tonight that will change with the season home opener.

The last time a game was played at home by the Whitecaps was six hundred and twenty-two days ago...that is a long time between home games.

The Whitecaps have had a bit of a slow start so far this season. They spent the first week of the season in Fort Wayne, Indiana, when they lost 3 of 5 games to the Tincaps and a sixth game was rained out.

According to WOOD, the Whitecaps with take on the Great Lakes Loons tonight for the first home game and LMCU Ballpark. The game will kickoff at 6:35 p.m. with the first 500 fans who arrive at the ballpark getting a Whitecaps hat. The game is sold out and will end with a post game fireworks show for the fans.

The with pandemic keeping the LMCU Ballpark for opening a full capacity, so far the season is starting with only allowing 20% capacity with pods of four to six people scattered in groups around the park. So you may want to keep that in mind when purchasing tickets for future games.

20% capacity at LMCU Ballpark equals 2,000 fans. That is fans that are in the seats, lawn and even the suites. You will need to wear a mask to get in the ballpark but you can remove it once you are in your seat. If you need to move around in the ballpark you will need to have your mask on as well as keeping social distancing in play.

Major League Baseball moved the Whitecaps from A ball to High-A level which means you will get an even better class or players on the field.

There are still tickets left for the rest of the games of the season, if you are looking to get tickets just click here.
