AFI’s Davey Havok To Join ‘American Idiot’ Cast

The American Idiot musical will get a new cast of performers come March 1 and the role of St. Jimmy will go to another rock star.  AFI singer Davey Havok will take the reigns of the character from Green Day frontman Billy Joe Armstrong.

Havok will play St. Jimmy for two weeks during the production's next run, which will also feature American Idol runner-up Justin Guarini (he is still around????) playing the role of Will.  Armstrong, who is the composer and co-author of the musical, assumed the role of St. Jimmy for 50 appearances between January 1-February 27.

I wonder if Davey Havok and Billy Joe Armstrong made the deal while Green Day and AFI were on tour together last year.  What are your thoughts?  Does Havok have the Broadway talent to live up to American Idiot's success?
