After years of planning and construction, I finally attended my first concert at the Acrisure Amphitheater and experienced the venue firsthand.

Grand Rapids Venues

Long before I moved to the Grand Rapids area, I had already been attending shows at a variety of venues like Van Andel Arena. The area always felt safe, the venues were the right size for the artists, and I consistently found the experience better than in many major cities across the United States.

Long before Van Andel Arena was a fixture, I used to see shows at Club Eastbrook, which later became Orbit Room. While that venue is no longer around, GLC Live at 20 Monroe is a great modern replacement for live music in the city.

It’s also worth mentioning The Intersection, which includes additional rooms, Elevation, The Stache, and The Mint, all housed under one roof. Many artists get their start in one of The Intersection’s smaller rooms before progressing to larger stages.
There is also the DeVos Performance Hall, the Big Room at Silva, and the Pyramid Scheme that all offer a wide variety of entertainment on their stages.

My First Experience at Acrisure Amphitheater

The newest venue to open in Grand Rapids is the Acrisure Amphitheater. I saw Godsmack, Stone Temple Pilots, and Dorothy there, and it was an excellent lineup for my first experience at the amphitheater.

Getting in and out of the venue was easy, but what really stood out was how friendly and helpful the ushers, security staff, and other employees were. It wasn’t just my experience, everyone I spoke with at the show seemed to feel the same way.

The sound was incredible, each of the three bands sounded great no matter where I was in the venue. Because of my job, I was able to experience the show from multiple vantage points, including the pavilion, the lawn, and even side stage. I pay close attention to acoustics, and the amphitheater absolutely nailed it.

While I didn’t try any food or drinks, the amphitheater was clearly well equipped to serve guests quickly, with multiple areas around the venue offering plenty of options. The bathrooms were also some of the nicest I’ve ever encountered at a concert venue.

All in all, my experience at the Acrisure Amphitheater was excellent. It’s the right size, not too big and not too small, and no matter where your seats are, including accessible seating areas, you’re set up for a great concert experience. The team behind the amphitheater really got it right.
