When I was a kid growing up on the east side of Michigan there was a Mexican restaurant my parents would take my sister and me to that was a real treat. It was often the family choice when someone had a birthday.

My family would go to the location of this Mexican restaurant in Flint. I remember when I was old enough to drive, this restaurant was a favorite choice to take a date to before heading to a movie or a concert.

This Mexican restaurant had a dessert that was mind-blowing as a kid. It was called fried ice cream. As a kid, fried and ice cream was a combination of words I couldn't wrap my head around but I had no problem wrapping it around my spoon.

I remember driving to the location with a date in the early 2000s and saw that the restaurant was out of business and it was such a bummer because there was nothing like it as a second choice.

According to FOX 17, Chi-Chi's will return in 2025. Michael McDermott, the son of Chi-Chi's cofounder Marno McDermott will be opening multiple locations across the United States that will feature the traditional experience mixed with modern influences. Oh boy!
