The family of the late actor Chris Farley has agreed to allow a biopic to be filmed and a local actor from Grand Rapids is set to play Farley.
Comedian and Actor Chris Farley
Chris Farley was a very funny comedian and actor. I always loved his bits on Saturday Night Live. One of my favorites was when he played the character Matt Foley for the "Man in a Van Down by The River."
Farley starred in one of my all-time favorite movies Tommy Boy which I still watch occasionally. Farley was in other great movies like Black Sheep, Airheads, Beverly Hills Ninja, and Almost Heroes.
Unfortunately, Farley struggled his entire career with obesity, alcoholism, and substance abuse. The latter led to the tragic drug overdose that took his life at the age of 33.

Grand Rapids native Paul Walter Hauser, an actor, professional wrestler, and musician, has been cast to play Chris Farley in the new biopic. Hauser was born in Grand Rapids but grew up in Saginaw.
According to WOOD, Hauser has played several roles in multiple films, but it wasn't until he was the lead actor in Clint Eastwood's 2019 film "Richard Jewell," that he played the security guard who found the backpack filled with pipe bombs at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, that his career took off.
