In a new survey of the best places to live in the United States, 6 Michigan cities were named and 2 of them might surprise you.

U.S. News & World Reports released their annual list of the 150 Best Places to Live in the U.S. a few days ago and Michigan had a pretty good showing.  The list ranked the 150 most populous cities using the metrics of value, desirability, job market, and quality of life.

6 Michigan cities made the list and 2 of them seem like maybe they shouldn't be.  Ann Arbor was the highest ranking Michigan city on the list coming in at #12 and Grand Rapids was the second highest ranked at #34.  Check out the rest of the cities on the list below.

OK, before we get to the 10 best places to live overall.  Detroit?  Flint?  Sure, they might be seeing a tiny renaissance in the last decade or so, but they are still pretty far from being considered to be one of the best places in the country to live.  Even if they were only ranked 127th and 144th.

For the 10 best places to live overall, Colorado and Florida each had 2 cities in the top 10, with Colorado's Boulder coming in at the top spot.
