2500 Jobs Coming To West Michigan Thanks to Ford Motor Company
In a time of inflation and economic uncertainty, it is exciting news to hear that the Ford Motor Company is bringing 2500 job opportunities to West Michigan.
Normally When You Hear Auto Jobs They Are Leaving The Country
I grew up in an automotive factory family and as I child I began to understand that Michigan was the center of the automotive world. As I got older and got closer to the job market, those jobs that were once available to my family moved across our country's borders.
Living south of Detroit and Pontiac and north of Flint, 3 cities known for their automotive opportunities, I began hearing of plant closures and plants moving to Mexico, Canada, and overseas. I also saw what happened to those cities after those factories left and I thought I would never hear of automotive job opportunities to once again come back to Michigan. That has changed.
Ford Motor Company To Invest In New Electric Battery Factory In West Michigan
I think Michigan as well as the rest of America learned during the pandemic that making key components for products we all need is important that those components are made in this state and the rest of the country.
With the electric vehicle boom becoming the new gold rush in America, it's exciting to see steps being put into place to build those batteries here in the Great state of Michigan.
According to WOOD, the Ford Motor Company will invest $3.5 billion in a new electric vehicle battery plant that will create 2,500 jobs in the Marshall area hence lowering the cost of electric vehicles and giving lots of growth opportunities for the region and its surrounding businesses.
You can see the full rollout in the video above regarding Ford's plans for the new battery plant in Michigan.
How Much Will the Ford Battery Jobs Pay?
These are great job opportunities that are coming to West Michigan families that pay anywhere from $20 per hour to $50 per hour. Not to mention benefits, retirement, and union opportunities. These jobs are huge opportunities for West Michigan households. The plant should be up and running by 2026 so get your resume ready.
