How sad!

The Detroit Zoo posted sad news on their Facebook page Monday night that their 11-year-old gray wolf, Wazi, had died after complications during surgery.

As the statement went on to say, Wazi, was in surgery to remove a mass in her chest that was found during a routine vet exam. They say after a CAT scan, the realized the only path to saving the gray wolf was surgery.

Unfortunately, she suffered cardiac arrest during the surgery and died.

The zoo posted a nice tribute to Wazi,

Wazi was intelligent, fearless, curious and sassy and was adored by our staff, volunteers and visitors. She will be missed by all.

ClickonDetroit says the zoo still has a male wolf named Kaska.
