‘You’re a Mean One Mr. Grinch–The Metal Version
Dr. Seuss' 'How the Grinch Stole Christmas' might be my favorite Christmas tale from childhood. In fact, last year, while driving home for the holidays, I had a Christmas station playing. I'd been feeling a little cranky (a little grinch-like, if you will) and thought some Christmas tunes would put me in the holiday spirit. They didn't. Because most of them are total sh**. But. Then a magical thing happened. The audio version of 'How the Grinch Stole Christmas' came on. And I listened to the whole darn thing. All 22 minutes. And I'm pretty sure my heart grew three sizes.
Anyway, 'You're a Mean One Mr. Grinch' is a classic Christmas song from the 1966 animated TV special. You may have heard it many times, many ways, but have you ever heard a metal version?
Metalcore band Sirens & Sailors keep it quite heavy with their version of the Christmas classic.
No matter what style the song is done in, you gotta admit the lyrics are pretty great. I was thrilled with them as a child and I still am.
I mean, come on--
You're a foul one, Mr. Grinch.
You're a nasty, wasty skunk.
Your heart is full of unwashed socks
Your soul is full of gunk.
Mr. Grinch.
and
You're a three decker saurkraut and toadstool
sandwich
With arsenic sauce.
???
So awesome.
