Last night at Soaring Eagle, Night Ranger and 'Ratt' were scheduled to perform for Michigan fans. Not quite so surprisingly, the 'Ratt' portion of the show was cancelled just hours before doors. Why? And why do I keep putting quotes around 'Ratt'?

Well, this is the Bobby Blotzer led version of Ratt, that has, basically, only the drummer from Ratt in it.

There's been a lot of court action recently about the use of the band name, and Warren DeMartini, Stephen Pearcy, and Juan Croucier have had a 'cease-and-desist' order issued to Blotzer, to prevent him from using the band name for his shows. Apparently, they've kicked Bobby out of Ratt, and don't want him using the name to book shows.

This prompted Soaring Eagle to decide to alter the way 'Ratt' was presented for the show. The C&D issued cites that Blotzer must bill his performance as "former member of Ratt", and not as the actual band Ratt.

Blotzer is pissed. So the band scheduled to play last night pulled the plug on their show, claiming the venue trying to control the performance and presentation of the Blotzer-led band. He claims it is a violation of the contract. But, of course, the contract was signed before the C&D was issued, so the venue was probably just being safe.

So if you were expecting to see Ratt last night...that's why they didn't play, because a former member was using the name to book shows, and the rest of the band didn't think that was cool.

Night Ranger did play their full set, and apparently it was awesome. They're a really good band.
