Following an arrest for an alleged robbery that took place in Kalamazoo on Friday night, two WMU football players, Bryson White and Ron George, have been kicked off of the football team.

Head Coach P.J. Fleck addressed the media today and accepted responsibility for the incident, the Detroit Free Press reports.

Fleck said during the Mid-American Conference teleconference today,

"It falls on one person, and it falls on me, as the head football coach. I'm the one who offers scholarships. I'm the one who brings people in here. I'm the one, in the last four years, who brought in the type of student-athletes that we want to be very proud of here at Western Michigan. Somewhere along the line, obviously, I didn't go a good enough job and thorough enough job on a few guys."

Fleck talked about the need to improve players' readiness for living on a college campus away from their families,

"I've got to do a better job of simulating exactly what that young man's [life] is going to be like when they get to our campus, and they get to their world not around mom and dad, outside of the house."

The players were originally suspended from the team and then dismissed after the WMU football organization received more information.

White and George were charged today with armed robbery, 1st degree home invasion, and larceny. They are each being held on $100,000 bond.
