Michigan State Police have busted at least 15 people in Hart Township in a cock fighting scheme.

According to MLIVE, charges have been filed for felony animal fighting for each of the suspect that were arrested along with police impounded 16 vehicles at the scene of the crime.

The Michigan State Police post located in Hart investigated the cock fighting ring that was hosting the illegal gambling. The suspects names will not be available to the public until each have been arraigned.

The Michigan State Police along with a team of additional law enforcement agencies in Oceana County worked together rounding up the suspects involved. Tips came in from citizens with information that the cock fighting ring was operating in a wooded area in Hart Township.

Like the suspects, the location of the ring is still unknown. Roughly 30 people we at the cock fight. When police arrived, many of the illegal gamblers took off into the woods surrounding the location.

Michigan State police brought in K9 units in helping locating a half a dozen people who fled the scene that were hiding in the woods.

The 15 people arrested are currently in lock up in the Oceana County Jail.

There were 35 live roosters on the premises that were either in cages or actively fighting when investigators arrived at the scene. 10 dead roosters were found in a large pit.

The case is still under investigation.
