Tis the season.

It was only a month ago that Wayland played at The Intersection in Grand Rapids for "The Free Beer & Hot Wings Morning Show" Holiday Break-ins Kickoff Party in an event co-sponsored by WGRD 97.9.

The four-member band -- singer Mitch Arnold, drummer Tyler Coburn and guitarists Dean Pizzazz and Phillip Vilenski -- with Wayland, Mich., ties have been connected with WGRD and "Free Beer & Hot Wings" for a couple years.

Vilenski dropped in on WGRD on Thursday. He shared what's up with Wayland and donated $1,000 the band raised for "The Free Beer & Hot Wings Morning Show" Holiday Break-in.

Wayland is a band that is humble, rooted and talented.

Arnold is scheduled to sing the National Anthem tonight (Dec. 20) for the Wayland-West Ottawa high school boys' basketball game in Wayland.

Wayland is in concert at 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 21, at Uli's Haus of Rock in Lansing, with Purgatory Grove and Blackened Earth. Details here.

The band, which released its first self-titled album "Wayland" in October 2010, is currently on tour. Find out more about Wayland here.

Listen to Wayland rock its recently-released song "Reno."
