This week, our good friends in Wayland made an announcement on their Facebook page, that longtime drummer, Tyler, has stepped away from the band to focus on his personal life and family. Tyler also posted to his personal Facebook page.

Some of you may know by now that I have decided to move on from Wayland. Those guys are my brothers, and I am very proud of everything we have accomplished together over the past decade. I wish them nothing but success as they move forward.

As a touring musician the only way to make a living these days is to be on the road the majority of your life. I look forward to spending time at home with my wife to be, and having the opportunity to see close friends and family more often.

My good friend Nigel Dupree will be taking over. He is a great drummer, and a great person. I know you all will give him the same amazing support you have showed me over the years.

I am excited to see what the future brings as I start this new chapter of my life!

As Tyler and the band wrote, Wayland are really happy to announce that Nigel Dupree, son of Jesse James Dupree of Jackyl fame, is the new drummer for Wayland. He's been on tour with the guys over the last year, singing backup vocals and playing guitar, and he's great!

The guys are all very excited both for Tyler and the band, and are looking forward to coming back to Grand Rapids on February 4th for the sold out show with Shinedown. This will be Nigel's first show in Grand Rapids as the drummer, so make sure to show your support for him!

I spoke to Phil today, and he wanted to add,

Since we released the posts, we have all been very touched by the overwhelming support for the band, the love for Tyler, and the warm welcome everyone has shown Nigel.

Things change, but the band is still totally focused, and have a lot to look forward to this year, with a new album, and of course, LOTS of touring!
