Matt Heafy has been busting out some pretty random songs lately, what with his sinking cover of Celine Dion's smash "My Heart Will Go On," 'NSync's "Tearin' Up My Heart" and Toto's "Africa" populating his his YouTube channel in recent weeks. Yesterday (Sept. 3) though, the Trivium frontman played it a little bit closer to home by paying homage to a band in his own genre and taking on Avenged Sevenfold's "Unholy Confessions."

The singer/guitarist takes the 2004 A7X breakout metalcore single and makes it his own by dialing back the heaviness of the original and turning it into a disarming acoustic number. Check out the video above to see the Heaf do his thing.

Having also covered artists ranging from Elvis Presley to Britney Spears over the past several months, Heafy has built up quite the catalog of interesting, unexpected and just plain bizarre covers. Check out more of them at his Kiichi Chaos YouTube channel here.

Trivium are gearing up for another tour leg in support of last year's The Sin and the Sentence, headlining North America this fall with support coming from Avatar and Light the Torch. The jaunt will see the package stopping in 25 cities over a one-month span, starting things off in Tampa, Fla. on Oct. 3. For ticket information and a list of stops, head to Trivium's website for all the details.
