Metallica kicked off their week-long stint on the Craig Ferguson show with not only a funny interview where "Morgan Freeman" called and asked Lars to take off his shirt, but a blistering performance of "Hit the Lights".

Metallica is stepping in to replace U2, who had to drop out because they're freaking lame. Or something.

There was some kind of excuse for it, that no one cares about.
