There are a ton of things to be voted on this November and today is the last day you can register to vote.

Among the positions up for grabs this November are all of the statewide offices in Michigan, (governor, attorney general and secretary of state). The number of registered voters in Michigan has been creeping up, going from 7,405,605 in January to 7,419,395 as of Sept. 28.

There have been many voter registration drives held across the state in recent months, but if you missed them, it's not too late. Here's what you need to do to get registered to vote today:

  • Make sure you're eligible: You have to be at least 18 years old, a U.S. citizen, and Michigan resident of the town where you're registering.
  • Fill out an application: Applications are available at township, city or county clerk offices; Secretary of State branch offices; military recruitment centers, or online at www.michigan.gov/sos
  • Submit your application: At the township, city or county clerk offices in person by closing time on Monday (usually 4:30 or 5 p.m., if varies by municipality); or mail to your local clerk, but it MUST be postmarked by Monday, Oct. 6. If you're mailing the application, you must include either your driver's license number or a photocopy of your driver's license, or a copy of a utility bill with your name and address on it, and a paycheck stub or government document that includes your name and address.
  • What happens next?: Your local clerk will process the application and send you a voter's registration card.
  • What's left? Get out and vote!
