Update (5 p.m.): A suspect tied to the shootings has been arrested, according to East Lansing police.

They were taken into custody by police at an East Lansing residence in the 1800 block of Coolidge Road.

The suspect is believed to be involved in both shootings, and the secure-in-place order has been lifted.

The East Lansing and Lansing police departments worked together to apprehend the suspect, with support from area agencies.

(2:53 p.m.) According to our sister station 97.5 NOW FM in Lansing, a man walked into a Lansing pharmacy then shot and killed an employee Monday morning.

The shooting happened about 11 a.m. at a Rite Aid, located on Saginaw Street in Lansing. The victim of that shooting died at the scene.

A second shooting occurred just 15 minutes later about a mile away in East Lansing. Several schools in the area were placed on lockdown. About 2:40 p.m. Monday, police told FOX-17 that the victim of that second shooting has also died.

Police have not yet confirmed whether the two shootings are related.

Police have said that the shooter in the Rite Aid incident was a man about 30 years old between 5 feet, 8 inches and 5 feet, 10 inches tall wearing all black: a black shirt, black pants, a black hat and carrying a black bag.
