More than 20 puppies will soon be up for adoption at Lake Haven Animal Rescue in Newaygo County.

The pups recently arrived at Lake Haven, some transferred from a shelter in Alabama shut down for animal cruelty, and some rescued after being dropped off at a veterinary clinic's parking lot Fox 17 reports.

Lake Haven rescued 33 other puppies earlier this month from an Alabama shelter that was closed for poor conditions.

Shelter director, Cheryl McCloud, told FOX 17,

"It's just really satisfying to know that you've taken something that was not going to make it and now you've seen it go to a good home with wonderful people. It's a really good feeling to have."

Some of the puppies will have homes soon, because of the interest shown when the last group of puppies came through. McCloud says they will start on those applications first:

"We'll be tapping our applications from the last time that if they missed out on one, hopefully we can help them this time,"

However, Lake Haven does still have plenty of puppies as well as some cats that are available.

If you are interested in adopting, more information can be found at Lake Haven’s website.
