After 10 hearty seasons, the West Michigan Whitecaps are going to retire the Fifth Third Burger. Over 12,000 brave challengers have tried to devour this burger for a combined 58 million calories!

The Fifth Third Burger includes five 1/3 lb. hamburger patties, five slices of American cheese, a cup of chili and generous doses of Fritos, salsa, sour cream, lettuce and tomatoes on a 1-pound bun. The burger has 4,800 calories, 300 grams of fat, 744 milligrams of cholesterol and more than 10,000 milligrams of sodium. Over the last decade, the West Michigan Whitecaps sold more than 12,000 Fifth Third Burgers. More than 500 people were able to devour the whole thing before the end of the game and completed the "Fifth Third Burger Challenge."

The Fifth Third Burger was originally introduced prior to the 2009 season. Several different media organizations covered the release of the monster-sized burger. It appeared on ESPN's "SportsCenter", "The Today Show", "Mad Money", and many more. It also was featured on a 2009 episode of the Travel Channel's "Man v. Food" -- when host Adam Richman devoured the 5-pound sandwich in only 27 minutes! In 2011 it was featured on an episode of the Food Network's "Unwrapped".

If you would like to try the Fifth Third Burger before it disappears from the menu, you can find it at the "Sweet Meats" concession stand at any of the remaining home games at Fifth Third Ballpark this season.
