This is not a joke, this is not a test!  The U.S. Military has plans sitting around for pretty much every contingency: kidnapped president, nuclear war, insect invasion, alien invasion and plant apocalypse. OK, maybe not the plant thing, but they could!

It turns out that they also have a very real plan for how to deal with a Zombie Apocalypse!  It's called CONOP 8888, and it was recently discovered.

What does it do?

Fulfills fictional contingency planning guidance tasking for U.S. Strategic Command to develop a comprehensive [plan] to undertake military operations to preserve ‘non-zombie’ humans from the threats posed by a zombie horde. Because zombies pose a threat to all non-zombie human life, [Strategic Command] will be prepared to preserve the sanctity of human life and conduct operations in support of any human population — including traditional adversaries."

It was not designed as a joke.  This was created as a real plan to deal with fictional emergencies, so they could train!  Instead of boring old "invade Nigeria" ideas, someone came up with an amazing training tool on how to fight off the invading hordes of the undead!

Now I really want to know:

  1. If they used the book "World War Z" for ideas on strategy.
  2. If they have a plan for a dragon attack.  I really want to learn that one.
