Last night, I finally got to try the latest entry into the survival horror genre. I have been waiting a good long while for another game like this to arrive to game consoles. Something that wasn't all shooting this and that, but a genuine experience. That is exactly what I got with The Evil Within.

I have only played the game for a total of 1 hour and 35 mins, but I will tell you, it was non stop insanity. From the moment you walk into the mental asylum to where ever I am at now, it's pure survival horror.

The first thing you really do is try to escape this butcher, who is ready to make you as lunch for whatever. Right as you escape, the game tells you how to sneak around, and that's it! YOU HAVE TO FIGURE IT OUT! It's not one of those games that hold's your hand through the entire thing, it is a challenge, and that is something you do not see in video games these day. I will say though... you die A LOT in this game.

Around every corner, there is something ready to kill you. Either be it a crazy enemy, trip wire, bear trap, something...everything in this game wants you dead. The first area alone, I ended up dying around 3 times until I figured out what I needed to do! At first I questioned the stealth aspect of the game, but then I realized that it amps the survival horror portion of the game quite well. When something see's you, this sense of fear just overcomes you. Your ammo is very limited in this game, and your fists don't really do the job. Best idea? JUST RUN! The stealth aspect remind me of 'The Last of Us' on PS3.

In the instruction booklet, it says that the game will be difficult...they weren't lying.

If you are looking for an experience of a game, The Evil Within is exactly what the doctor ordered. I suggest giving this game a try.
