Canoodling is the act of kissing and cuddling, it is not slang for chatting.  The anchor in this video doesn't fully understand this, and he politely asks the weather girl if they can canoodle before she goes into her report.  Her reaction lends to the idea that this was not the first time that the anchor had asked her to canoodle.
