Mastodon and Machinehead Coming to The Intersection July 11th!

Last time Mastodon graced us with their presence, they brought with them an arsenal of metal sharing the stage with Opeth. The show SOLD OUT! The 'metal' was powerful that night, and Mastodon tore up the stage. Apparently, they could not get enough of Grand Rapids, so they have decided to make the trip back. This time though, they are bringing MORE METAL with MACHINEHEAD!

Soulfly frontman Max Cavalera has spoken in the past about an upcoming musical project with Dillinger Escape Plan vocalist Greg Puciato and former Mars Volta drummer Dave Elitch, but a new member has been added to the yet-unnamed supergroup. That man just happens to be Troy Sanders, the bassist and co-vocalist of modern metal outfit Mastodon.

On of weekend of concert insanity, tons of concertgoers were either at the Avalanche Tour at the Orbit Room, or the massive metal show of Mastodon and Opeth at the Intersection. I, Ned The Metal Head, seized the opportunity to snag an interview with Mastodon drummer Brann Dailor. Am I wearing a mask? Well yea...if Mastodon wants you to wear a mask...you better damn well wear a mask.

Here is my final vlog on this year’s Fun Fun Fun Fest.There were definitely a lot of great artists who performed, especially on the hip-hop side. I thoroughly enjoyed Pharoahe Monch’s set. The Hold Steady brought a lot of energy to their set. Mastodon almost made me deaf.
