I have been playing this game series ever since the first Gears of War was available. It has impressed me with it's good story telling, awesome 3rd person perspective, and even the ability to make me 'feel' for the characters. Gears of War has pulled a 'Star Wars,' and has now delved into the prequel world with Gears of War: Judgement.
