It's even greater when a television legend like Jon Stewart takes a moment to memorialize a late metal icon like GWAR frontman Dave Brockie (aka Oderus Urungus), which is exactly what happened last night (March 25) on 'The Daily Show.'

Breaking news on the death of GWAR frontman Dave Brockie (a.k.a. Oderus Urungus). According to a Richmond, Va., news outlet WTVR, law enforcement is investigating Brockie’s death as drug-related based on evidence gathered at the scene of the singer’s death.

Today is a very sad day. I really am trying to come to terms with the news I heard when I turned on my phone and saw a Facebook message that readd, "I don't know if this is true, but check this out!" I read the message and a terrible feeling came over me to find out that the leader of GWAR has passed on. I have a unique history with this band.

Sources close to the band say that Dave Brockie, the founder and lead singer of legendary metal band Gwar, has died at the age of 50.
