To celebrate former First Lady Betty Ford's birthday, the Gerald R. Ford Museum will be letting people visit the museum for FREE on Friday.

It was a huge event on September 18, 1981. Former Presidents, foreign leaders, and many celebrities were here for the dedication of the Ford Presidential Museum.

As the government shutdown stalemate continues in Washington, D.C., we're taking a local hit in Grand Rapids.

President Ford would have been 105 and Betty would have celebrated her 100th birthday this year.

Wow, what a mixture of activities this weekend. We have everything from an exhibit in honor of First Lady Betty Ford to the Grand Rapids Heart Ball. We have music and comedy. There is boxing and hockey. It’s the final weekend to get your taxes done. There is a Motorcycle Swap Meet and a Petting Zoo. There is also a Home and Lifestyle Show.

Betty Ford is being remembered on her 100th birthday.

Grand Rapids was buzzing with excitement back in 1981 leading up to the September 18, 1981 dedication of the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum.

Rosalynn Carter can readily identify with Betty Ford. They served as first ladies at The White House in back-to-back terms in the 1970s. Today, Carter, the wife of former President Jimmy Carter, is in Grand Rapids in honor of the 96th birthday of the late Ford, the spouse of former President Gerald Ford.

Betty Ford passed away on Friday.  She was 93.  Funeral plans are now set.
