U.S. Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos will visit Grand Rapids Community College and Van Andel Education Institute on Tuesday, August 1.

This morning, protesters physically blocked U.S. Department of Education Secretary Betsy DeVos from entering a Washington D.C. middle school. Some applauded the development. Former Education Secretary Arne Duncan was among others who said she should be let in.

Some protesters are trading picket signs for chocolate. "Not My President" candy bars saw an increase in sales after Betsy DeVos become Education Secretary.

On Tuesday, a Senate committee approved Betsy DeVos as Secretary of Education, as chosen by Trump. This means she's one step closer to attaining the position. Her nomination now goes to the full Senate for consideration. While her answer started out just fine, it somehow veered off and ended with her saying that maybe we need guns in schools to protect the nation's children from bears.
