There are a bunch of cool special releases going on for Record Store Day Black Friday, including a reissue of Green Day's "American Idiot" on vinyl.

Back in high school, the only music that I ever listened to before metal took over my life, was KISS and Green Day. Something about the look, the music, and the attitude the band had during that era of my life was something I latched onto like a sickness and fell in love with it. It was all because of Green Day's 'American Idiot.'

After finding life beyond just a CD or digital download as a hit Broadway production, Green Day's American Idiot concept album will now be adapted into a feature film. And who better to play the lead role of St. Jimmy than the man who created him: Green Day lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong.

The American Idiot musical will get a new cast of performers come March 1 and the role of St. Jimmy will go to another rock star.  AFI singer Davey Havok will take the reigns of the character from Green Day frontman Billy Joe Armstrong.
