SXSW Part 3
More photos from the last few days of SXSW 2011. Donald Glover, star of NBC's Community and who handled hosting duties at the mtvU Woodie Awards earlier in the week, killed the crowd with his blazing set at Red 7 Patio under his Childish Gambino persona. Community co-star Danny Pudi was there in support of his friend.
There were a few cool shows during the day that weren't part of the official SXSW showcases. One in particular that I found entertaining was a band called Wahnderlust. The Los Angeles band was performing at SPIN magazine's SPIN Loft on 6th inside the Trophy Room. Kim Manning was looking HOT in her outfit. Chicks in fishnets playing instruments is always a plus.
I checked out (literally) Meiko's set at St. David's Sanctuary. She's an acoustic singer/songwriter type who most of you will call me a sissy for liking. I don't care. I dig her stuff and she's adorable. Kevin Devine also gave a pretty intense performance after Meiko.
Overall, my first SXSW experience was pretty awesome. I'm bummed that I missed Foo Fighters' secret show at Stubb's BBQ and that I couldn't make it to Kanye's star-studded bash at an abandoned power plant. Still, I had a great time. If you get the opportunity to go, I suggest you do so. Just know that it can be a little overwhelming at first, but you'll get used to it. Goodbye SXSW. Thanks for the memories.
