Surprise! Men Are More Likely to Die Stupidly than Women
Can you believe people actually pay big money for research projects to determine what anyone with a brain can immediately answer?
A study has been done to see if men are more likely to die stupidly and win a Darwin award than women are.
Umm...just a quick guess before I read the study...I will say, yes.
I'll go read the study and BRB...
Done...and I was right. Men typically take greater risks with stupid crap than women do, and account for 282 of the 318 Darwin award winners (losers?).
That's more than 88%, people!
So, now we have math to tell us what we all pretty much figured out in our own heads in about a second. Don't you feel better about your reasoning skills? We could have just saved someone hundreds of thousands of dollars in research money, if they'd just asked one of us!
"...the paper did cite a trio of Darwin Award winners who played a variation of Russian roulette by alternately taking shots of alcohol and then stamping on an unexploded land mine.
All three lost."
Or how about:
"(17 September 2014, Pakistan) Two correspondents nominated the gullible acolyte who volunteered to be killed and resurrected by a holy man--and not a holy man who was experiencedwith the procedure, but a beginner who thought he'd give it a whirl!
On Tuesday the idea was announced, on Wednesday the follower was killed, and on Thursday the overly optimistic Sufi was behind bars for murder. Generally no Darwin Awards are given for murder, but in this case the acolyte volunteered for the scheme and earned his just reward."

Here's a good criminal stupidity story:
"(26 September 2009, Belgium) The city of Dinant is the backdrop for this rare Double Darwin Award. Two bankrobbers attempting to make a sizeable withdrawal from an ATM died when they overestimated the quantity of dynamite needed for the explosion. The blast demolished the building the bank was housed in. Nobody else was in the building at the time of the attack.
Robber One was rushed to the hospital with severe head trauma; he died shortly after arrival. Investigators initially assumed that his accomplice had managed a getaway, but the second bungler's body was excavated from the debris twelve hours later. Would-be Robbers One and Two weren't exactly impoverished--their getaway car was a BMW."
