Subway Sandwich Artist Flips Out On Customer Who Demands Ketchup

Most Subway sandwich shops don’t have ketchup. While it may seem weird that a fast food chain would ignore such a popular condiment, when you consider Subway doesn’t offer burgers or fries it makes more sense.

However they do offer Philly cheese steaks, and when Luis Martinez ordered one at the Subway in Orange County, Florida he asked if he could get some ketchup on it.

Sandwich artist Lawrence Ordone refused, telling Martinez there is no ketchup at Subway. Martinez responded by saying he no longer wanted the sandwich  Then the next guy in line stepped in and said he would gladly buy it, sans ketchup.

Problem solved right? Actually no.

What happened next is subject to some dispute. Ordone claims Martinez continued to mouth off. Martinez denies this. But what they both confirm is that Ordone began to flip out on Martinez.

“He shoved a chair to the side, like knocked it down to come at me, and I said, ‘This is going to be serious,’” said Martinez.

“I said, ‘Let’s go, fight me like a man,’” Ordone explained to Channel 9 Eyewitness News, apparently still riled up about Martinez’s tomato-based offense.

According to Martinez, Ordone then blocked him from leaving the store and threatening to kill him. 911 was called.

While one might think Subway would be proud of the way Ordone aggressively advocated for the chain’s condiment policy, he was actually fired.

Listen to both men describe the fast food standoff in their own words below.
