A stagnant air mass has led to hazy conditions in West Michigan and across much of Michigan. Air quality has been lowered with Detroit registering the lowest air quality rating of any city in the country this afternoon.

Factories, vehicles and wood burning have all contributed to particles in the stagnant air which has created the hazy conditions.

Detroit's Air Quality Index rating of 106 was the highest in the country this afternoon. The rating falls between moderate and unhealthy and is classified as "unhealthy for sensitive groups" such as people with heart and lung disease, older adults and children.

The rating of 106 is not a high concern, but it is noteworthy that the rating was the highest in the country today.
