Skyrim Comforts Gamer After Sister’s Passing

As reported by Kotaku, The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim was a huge form of solace for a gamer who lost his sister to cancer over a year ago, and he shared his experiences on a Reddit thread. Redditor lb-cyber’s message was discovered by Bethesda, and a package was delivered to his door on the anniversary of his sibling’s death.

The Bethesda package included an art book signed by the entire Bethesda Game Studios team, as well as a note from Bethesda Softworks community manager Matt Grandstaff.

“I sought whichever outlets I could to help clear my mind from the flurry of thoughts and emotions,” wrote lb-Cyber in a Reddit post. “Skyrim was one such outlet, and its escapism really did help me handle the grieving process.”

In the world of Skyrim, the Dragonborn (aka the Dovahkiin) faces many battles, but at the end of the journey, a return to one’s family is the story’s greatest reward.

“And as my Dovahkiin finished his quest,” posted lb-Cyber. “I felt that he and I both deserved a happy ending. And so I gave us one.”
