MICHIGAN

Michigan improved to 2-1 after pounding Massachusetts 63-13 in Ann Arbor.  Quarterback Denard Robinson passed for 291 yards with 3 TD's and an interception and rushed for 106 yards with a TD.  Michigan's next two games will be played in the state of Indiana with a showdown this week in South Bend against the Irish and then their Big Ten opener at Purdue on October 6th.

MICHIGAN STATE

The Spartans were dominated at home by Notre Dame in a 20-3 loss as they fell to 2-1.  It won't take long for MSU to get back in the win column as they host Eastern Michigan this week before beginning Big Ten play on September 29th at home against Ohio State.

NOTRE DAME

Notre Dame went to East Lansing and came away with a 20-3 upset victory over the Spartans.  The defense has really played well this season so far, allowing an average of just 10 points per game.  The 11th ranked Irish are back home this week as they host Michigan.  If the offense starts clicking a little more, this team could be BCS bound despite the toughest schedule in the nation.

WESTERN MICHIGAN

Western Michigan put up a great fight on the road against Minnesota, but fell in the end 28-23.  They'll look to improve to 2-2 this week at home against Connecticut.  I like what I see so far from this team and feel like they should be a force to be reckoned with in the MAC.

CENTRAL MICHIGAN

The Chips were idle after being crushed at home last week by Michigan State.  The week off came at a perfect time, as they now have an extra week to prepare for a tough road game at Iowa this week.

EASTERN MICHIGAN

EMU was blown out at Purdue on Saturday 54-16 as they fell to 0-3.  Go ahead and consider them 0-4 because this week they play in East Lansing against a frustrated Michigan State team.

GRAND VALLEY

The 4th ranked Lakers improved to 3-0 with a nice 28-0 win on the road over Tiffin.  Up next, it's a home game against Ohio Dominican.

SHAFFEE'S PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Manti Te'o, Linebacker, Notre Dame

After a tragic week in which his grandmother and girlfriend died, Te'o played with a heavy heart and had 12 tackles as the Irish defense limited Michigan State to just 3 points.  MSU was held to only 50 yards rushing.
