I'm not sure how the 'Scary Stories' series were EVER allowed in elementary school libraries.

There was that one horrible story where a kid finds a toe stuck in the ground and the family puts it in soup and eats it and then is haunted by the body from which the toe came... what??

But anyway, those horrifying tales from our childhoods are now being made into a movie.

Alternative Press reports that Alvin Schwartz' creepy as hell children's book is coming to the big screen by way of Guillermo del Toro, director of HellboyPan's Labyrinth, and Crimson Peak.

Guillermo tweeted that he's starting development of a film based on Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark.

Deadline reports that Guillermo will potentially direct the film as well.
