All campuses in the Rockford Public School District were placed on lockdown Friday morning after a bomb threat.

The lockdown started around 10:30 a.m. after the superintendent’s office received a bomb threat against the district in general.

The Rockford Police Department responded to the middle schools, and Kent County Sheriff's Department sent deputies to Rockford High School. It is unclear if there is any police presence at the elementary schools.

The lockdown is considered standard procedure any time the school receives a threat of this nature.

A lieutenant at the Michigan State Police Rockford Post told WZZM 13 that the lock-down has been lifted, contradicting a news release from Michigan State Police in Lansing.

As of 12 p.m. police activity appeared to be winding down at Rockford High School.
