Strong winds and severe storms knocked out power to over 100,000 homes and businesses across the Lower Peninsula in Michigan last night. Restoration efforts are continuing as over 1,200 people work to restore power to Consumers Energy customers.

Consumers Energy says that as of 11AM about 65,000 homes and businesses were still without power. Most of those are in the northern Lower Peninsula, especially around Houghton Lake and east of Houghton Lake.

Some West Michigan customers are without power as well including those in Kent, Ottawa and Muskegon counties. Most in West Michigan are expected to have power restored by this afternoon or later tonight.

Consumers Energy hopes to have power back to all in Michigan by 11:30PM on Wednesday, Dec. 6.
