Pearl Jam’s has a long history of donating to charitable causes, which continues with their pledge to donate $100,000 to the United Way of Genesee County to assist Flint.

Pearl Jam just sent out a press release announcing that the band, along with their manager Kelly Curtis, would be pledging a donation of $100,000 to the United Way of Genesee County to provide help to those in Flint affected by the water crisis. Not only that, but they also announced that their partners — which include Glaser Progress Foundation, Live Nation, Brandi Carlile’s Looking Out Foundation, Republic Records, Universal Music Publishing Group, William Morris Endeavor Entertainment, and, ironically, Ticketmaster — have joined forces to add an additional $200,000 to the cause for a grand total of $300,000.

“This is an incredible gift for the people of Flint, one that will help address our immediate needs in the community and long-term needs that will be addressed by the Flint Child Health and Development Fund,” said Jamie Gaskin, CEO of the United Way of Genesee County.

Pearl Jam have also set up a donation page for Flint through Crowdrise and shared the cause on their Facebook page (seen below).

The band recently announced a string of tour dates and festival appearances, and are looking to begin work on their eleventh studio album at some point in 2016 as well.

Editor’s Note: This is one of many reasons why they’re my favorite band. Thank you, Pearl Jam. You guys are the best!
