NFL and New England Patriots star wide receiver, Julian Edelman, is being credited with preventing a school shooting in Michigan.

According to the New York Times, Edelman, who catches a lot of passes from quarterback Tom Brady, assisted authorities in catching a teenager who threatened an attack last month.

The Times reports that Edleman received a direct message on his Instagram account that said, "Dude, there is a kid in your comment section who says he's going to shoot up a school, I think you should alert the authorities."  Edelman has his assistant locate the message on his feed that read, "I'm going to shoot my school up watch the news".

Edelman contacted authorities who were able to trace the message to a 14-year-old boy that lives in Port Huron, Mich.. According to The Times, the teen admitted to posting the threat. Police also located two rifles in the teen's home. He has been arrested and is currently being held in a juvenile detention facility.

The boy was charged with a threat of terrorism and if convicted, this is a felony that is punishable by up to four years in jail.

Edelman doesn't take any credit for what happened, though. He told The Times that the Instagram user who messaged him is "the real hero."
