Wednesday night, September 23rd, Symphony X and Overkill descended on The Intersection here in Grand Rapids, for an amazing show! They also featured a great band from Grand Rapids as their show opener, Blackgate! After Blackgate warmed things up, Overkill hit the stage and crushed everything in their path!

I'm not even kidding. These guys put on a fierce performance! I've not gotten many chances to see Overkill, since they mostly tour the northeast of the US, and their set in San Bernardino with Iron Maiden was in a weird place, on a smaller stage, and I couldn't get where I could see them, so that sucked.

But this time, I got the full Overkill experience I was waiting for! Great band, crazy songs, and this band is tight. I also know their sound guy, Eddy, from El Paso. He's been doing sound for them for years now, and they sound great. Eddy is also one of the founding members of Pissing Razors, if you remember that band from the 90s. (They're back together, by the way.) So it was great to see him!

They didn't get to play "Necroshine", but with as many songs and albums as Overkill has, they can't hit everyone's favorites. Their set was insane, and people were singing along, and moshing along, having a great time.

If you love metal, you should go see these guys, they're awesome.
