90's grunge icons Soundgarden are ready to unleash a new album for this generation.  The band confirmed the news on their official website.

In a message posted yesterday (February 15), Soundgarden had the following to say:

Over the past few months, we've been busy jamming, writing and hanging out together - exploring the creative aspect of being Soundgarden. It feels great. We have some cool new songs that we are going to record very soon. Thank you for all of the support!

Loudest of Love,

Ben, Chris , Kim and Matt

Soundgarden have been keeping quite busy since they reunited in 2010.  The Seattle group played a successful set at last year's Lollapalooza, released the compilation album Telephantasm last September, and will release their first ever live album Live On I5 on March 22.

What do you think?  Should Soundgarden have stuck with the nostalgic angle or are you excited about a new album?  Comment below.
