A new phone scam is targeting businesses in the city of Wyoming. Police say that two different businesses have been called by someone claiming to work for Consumer's Energy.

The callers have told the businesses that their electricity will be shut off if they don't make a payment immediately.

Consumer's Energy says that they didn't make the calls, and that if you receive a call regarding a past due account balance you should call Consumer's Energy customer service to confirm that the call is legitimate.

So far, the scammers have received more than $2,000 from businesses in Wyoming.
