New “Amazing Spider-Man” Trailer Shows the Lizard, Funny Side of Webhead
A new trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man has been released for fan boys to drool over. Details are revealed about Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) and his relationship with high school crush Gwen Stacey (Emma Stone), main villain Dr. Curt Connors/The Lizard, and more action scenes that one would expect from a summer blockbuster.
The Amazing Spider-Man is a reboot of the Marvel Comics film franchise. The last Spider-Man movie was 2007's Spider-Man 3, the last in director Sam Raimi's trilogy. Reboots can be a hit or miss with fans, but the task is even harder when it's only been five years since the last installment. Amazing Spider-Man director Marc Webb insists it won't be just a remake of Raimi's work.
"It's really important for us to be able to communicate that this isn't a remake of Sam Raimi's movie," Webb told Latino Review (via Blastr). "There's a new territory, there's a new villain, it's a different Peter Parker."
While that seems the case, it's hard not to think of the original Spider-Man films when watching the trailer. However, I do like what I see so far despite being skeptical when I first caught wind of the reboot.
Newcomer Andrew Garfield seems to be comfortable in portraying the awkward teen Peter Parker and conflicted Spider-Man. I'm a sucker for Emma Stone so her casting as Gwen Stacey made me happy. Although fans of the Spider-Man comic books know their story doesn't end happily ever after. Will we see a dark plot twist in this film?
The Amazing Spider-Man opens in theaters nationwide on July 3. Watch the most recent trailer below and tell us what you think.
