Monday Evening’s Commute Could Get Messy in West Michigan

WZZM-13's weather experts are saying that a strong low pressure system is currently moving across the United States and it could bring icy roads and strong winds Monday to West Michigan.

Estimates are indicating around a quarter inch of ice accumulation is possible starting late Monday morning.

We'll likely see the most issues stemming from this storm Monday evening during our commute. Temperatures will hang out right around freezing Monday afternoon and evening but increase to above freezing overnight -- driving could become quite hazardous at times.

Any ice accumulated will be gone by Tuesday morning as temperatures rise, so hopefully they won't affect the Tuesday morning commute.

We could see some strong winds with this storm, as well. Sustained winds will be easterly between 20-30 mph while gusts reach 40 mph. The winds, as well as the ice build-up, could cause scattered power outages throughout the area.
