It's always much more fun watching NBC's 'The Voice' singing competition when one of the contestants is from Michigan.

Meet Lauren Duski from Gaylord who impressed Monday night with her take on Jewel's 'You Were Meant For Me'.

Everyone of the show's judges, except Alicia Keys turned their chairs around to see Lauren sing. And then they raged a pretty intense fight to represent her on the show.

Adam Levine told her she would be a refreshing voice to win the title, while her idol Gwen Stefani told her she could hear every part of her voice which is rare. But it was Blake Shelton who won her over by telling she would be a clear favorite.

Her Dad is a dentist in the Alpine Village, which is what Gaylord calls itself, and he has an annoying laugh that may wear on me if Lauren continues in the competition.

Lauren has advanced to the Battle Rounds which begin in a few weeks, and if she can out sing her fellow competitors there, she'll head to the finals.

Here's her singing performance...

And here's a video that includes her Up North back story from Monday night's episode of 'The Voice', which airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8:00pm on WOOD-TV 8.
