Man, financial website, Wallethub, has it out for Michigan or something.

First they rank us as the fifth worst state for a summer road trip (Excuse me? Have they not heard of the miles of gorgeous coastline along the amazing Great Lakes? Sleeping Bear Dunes? The Mackinac Bridge?) --  and now they are saying Michigan comes in as only the 42nd most patriotic state in the U.S.

What?

According to WZZM-13, Wallethub says the list is based on the percentage of residents enlisted in the military, number of Veterans and Peace Corps volunteers, percentage of eligible voters who cast ballots in the 2012 presidential election, and the rate of volunteerism.

Oh, and the frequency of google searches for American Flags...

Huh? Is the amount residents google the American Flag really a good indicator of patriotism? Wouldn't a good patriot already have a pretty good idea of what the flag looks like and stands for? Hmm.

Anyway, according to Wallethub Michigan is lacking in patriotism, but we are not the worst.

Here are most and least patriotic states, according to Wallethub.

Top 10 Patriotic States

1. Virginia
2. Alaska
3. South Carolina
4. Colorado
5. Georgia
6. Hawaii
7. Idaho
8. Montana
9. Alabama

Bottom 10 Patriotic States

Well, whatever to Wallethub. We'll certainly be showing our patriotism and love for the red white and blue this Saturday at the Amway Family Fireworks downtown Grand Rapids!
