In what is sure to be a pleasant surprise for rock fans in Detroit, MI, Metallica have announced plans to bring their Orion Music + More Festival to the Motor City next year.

The news about Orion's upcoming location was made official on the festival's website along with a promo video that you can watch below. The weekend event takes place June 8 and 9, however no venue in Detroit was revealed. Details concerning the artist lineup, tickets and other attractions will be unveiled in February. Fans can contribute suggestions for 2013 on the festival's Facebook page.

This year's Orion Music + More Festival took place June 23 and 24 at Bader Field in Atlantic City, NJ. An eclectic lineup of 37 bands graced the stages during the weekend, including Avenged Sevenfold, Modest Mouse, the Gaslight Anthem, Eric Church, Cage the Elephant and more. Metallica closed out both nights playing Ride the Lightning and The Black Album in their entirety respectively.
